1860 Christmas Party
WHO: All Civil War Reenactors and Members of the Reed’s Bridge Battle Field Preservation Society (RBBPS).
WHAT: 1860s Style Civil War Christmas Party
WHEN: Saturday, December 12th, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
WHERE: The Homestead Barn, Reed’s Bridge Battlefield, Hwy 161 South of Jacksonville, Arkansas.
ADMISSION: FREE, but we ask that each individual or couple bring a covered dish or desert. Also bring a serving utensil for your item.
CLOTHING: Reenactors, please wear uniforms, dresses, or other period clothing. Suggestion for RBBPS members–contact a reenactor for possible clothing items for gentlemen and ladies. Please attempt to look the part!
PARKING: Anywhere around the homestead area, but PLEASE do not block the barn’s driveway–prevents others from driving in and out.
GIFT EXCHANGE: Please bring something less than $20 dollars in value wrapped in either cloth or brown wrapping paper. Gifts should be items of every day use in the 1860’s: i.e., food, drink, clothing, candles, etc. Junk stores have old-fashioned bottles. If you’re a reenactor and have gear no longer wanted, wrap it. We will have a Christmas tree on the second floor. Place all gifts under it upon arrival. You will receive a numbered piece of paper. After the dance, place your number in a hat. Finally, everyone will draw numbers out of the hat to determine order of gift selection. This will not be like most White Elephant gift exchanges with multiple take-aways. You keep what you pick due to time constraints!
