Arkansas Toothpick- The Civil War Hub of ArkansasThis has been a big week for the Arkansas Toothpick. We have a new publishing company, “Arkansas Toothpick Publishing, LLC” and most of you know about the long-awaited new publication “Civil War Arkansas: A Military Atlas.” We did finish the book slightly ahead of schedule and released it this week. The first day it was available on Amazon, the book went to NUMBER ONE BEST SELLER for a new publication in the Geography genre! This book is the LLC’s first publication under the new publishing company. Today it is still in the top three best sellers in the genre.

Other news includes a very special steamboat day coming on June 19, 2016! The American Queen will stop again in Helena, Arkansas but this visit will be a complete Civil War theme from 9am until noon. There will be cannons roaring and living historians, both Confederate and Union manning the sites around historic Helena. Interpretation of Civil War Helena will be done at Freedom Park and Fort Curtis. It will be a great day to visit the Delta and learn about the Civil War in Helena! If you are a living historian/reenactor and would like to participate, send us an email to Also if you are interested in becoming a living historian, we would love to hear from you (14 and up).
