American Queen steamboat docked in Helena, Arkansas on the Mississippi River.
An event perfect for the whole family! Even though the 150th of the Civil War has come and gone, the number and quality of Civil War events goes unabated in Helena, Arkansas. Helena is very rich in Civil War history and Sunday, March 6 will see the return of the American Queen steamboat with her international travelers visiting the several Civil War sites in town. Fort Curtis will be manned with interpreters to help tell the story of the Civil War in period correct military uniforms. Since the interpreters will already be on site, this will be the perfect opportunity to come on over and take advantage of that. Steamboat Sunday will take place between 9am and noon. Shops will be open downtown during that time as well. Go to the calendar on arkansastoothpick.com for a list of events.
