Civil War Hub of Arkansas

I hope everyone had an excellent and productive holiday! As noted from a recent post the Arkansas Toothpick is engaged in promoting the 155th commemoration of the Civil War in Arkansas. Over the past five years there have been a lot of new discoveries and the 155th will be used to express some of the newly-found knowledge on the topic.

There have been several proverbial “smoking guns” that point the finger at both sides having done that leaves the historian scratching their head. The documents discussed will come from the new book “Arkansas in the Civil War: 1861”, so if you would like to keep up with the posts and discussions relating to the 155th, be sure to order yours soon.

Rest assured that most of what we thought we knew about the Civil War was nothing more than mythology passed down disguised as knowledge. Things like “The Yankees didn’t have any right to be here” and things like “The war was not about slavery.” Specifically these two statements will at the very least be challenged by new documents.

The Arkansas Toothpick for the 155th will entertain documents and other primary (first-hand) documents from both sides of the conflict, leaving it up to the reader to decide. The next “155th” article will be posted Friday.
