Battle of Helena: The Historic Angle of Attack
This photo is from the Helena battlefield drone from 75 feet above Confederate Memorial Park, located at the corner of Beech and Elm Streets. This angle is looking back north. It was this position that the Confederate army launched an attack toward Fort Curtis on July 4, 1863. The attack path is what you see in this photo. The original fort was where you see the large church in the background. Over 200 Confederates never got off this hill and were captured and taken prisoner behind the red home you see closest to the camera.
